Ant International has announced the close of its Series A funding round, raising approximately $1.2 billion in equity financing with a focus on expanding its financial services suite for small businesses.
Ant Group and Alibaba Group are the only existing investors known to have participated in the round. Ant International says it also received support from “other renowned international investment institutions”.
Funds will be used to “accelerate Ant International’s global expansion and innovation in merchant payment, account management and other inclusive financial services for SMEs and enterprises”, the announcement states.
Carved out from Ant Group in 2024, Ant International provides cross-border digital payment and growth marketing solutions to business through brands Alipay+, Antom, WorldFirst, and Bettr.
Headed by CEO Peng Yang, the independent company has amassed a network of 150 million merchants since the split, reaching more two billion user accounts across Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Latin America primarily.
